Pair Review
Built from the saved specs and wearability notes for these two watches, then weighed against enthusiast priorities like fit, movement quality, practicality, finishing, value, and collector appeal.
Where it wins
Collectors who want a historically important, instantly recognizable dive watch with strong personality.
Where it wins
Enthusiasts who want a more modern, refined tool watch with a longer power reserve.
DOXA uses the ETA 2824-2 automatic caliber, a widely known 4 Hz movement with a 38-hour power reserve. Bremont uses the BB64AH automatic caliber, also 4 Hz, but with a noticeably longer 56-hour power reserve and 25 jewels listed. Neither watch has a listed accuracy claim, COSC, METAS, or magnetic-resistance specification, so performance differences beyond power reserve are not supported by the data. In practical ownership terms, the DOXA’s ETA base suggests familiar serviceability and straightforward mechanical character, while the Bremont offers the convenience of a longer reserve and a more proprietary-feeling caliber designation. Winner: Bremont Supermarine 500M Polar White
DOXA measures 42.5mm across, 13.65mm thick, with a very short 44.5mm lug-to-lug and a 20mm lug width. Bremont is slightly larger at 43mm, 13mm thick, but extends to a much longer 50mm lug-to-lug and 22mm lug width. That makes the DOXA the easier-wearing watch on most wrists despite its 194g listed weight, especially because the short lug span and cushion case help it wear smaller and more balanced than the specs suggest. The pre-existing wearability note also emphasizes that the DOXA’s compact dial opening and short lugs make it wear smaller than expected, though the case still has noticeable thickness and weight. Bremont’s wearability note points to a slimmer case profile and better bracelet, but the 50mm lug-to-lug makes it a more assertive presence and less forgiving on smaller wrists. For wrist fit and overall comfort, DOXA has the clearer advantage. Winner: DOXA Sub 300T Professional
The DOXA offers an orange dial, Super-LumiNova, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a beads-of-rice stainless steel bracelet, and a no-decompression dive-time bezel, giving it strong legibility and unmistakable tool-watch character. It also has 1200m water resistance, a screw-down crown, screw-down case back, helium escape valve, and a date display, making it extremely capable for serious dive use, though its styling is deliberately specialized and the clasp is described as large and utilitarian. Bremont counters with a white 3D wave-pattern dial, domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, 500m water resistance, helium escape valve, screw-down crown, decorated closed case back, and a 10mm micro-adjust clasp, which makes it more adaptable and easier to fine-tune on the wrist day to day. The Bremont’s cleaner dial and better adjustment system likely improve everyday practicality, while the DOXA’s lume, bracelet identity, and dive heritage deliver stronger niche appeal. For overall daily versatility, Bremont has the edge. Winner: Bremont Supermarine 500M Polar White
DOXA carries a lower MSRP at $2,190 versus Bremont at $4,350, which is a substantial difference. The DOXA also has the stronger heritage signal in the provided notes: original SUB models tied to professional diving, early helium escape valve history, and a long-standing cult following. Bremont’s value case rests more on its modernized engineering, 904L steel construction, and refined execution than on historic cachet. From an ownership-practicality standpoint, both are serious tool watches, but DOXA’s simpler ETA-based movement and lower entry cost make it easier to justify as a collector-grade diver, while Bremont asks more and delivers longer power reserve, improved bracelet functionality, and a more contemporary luxury feel. For pure value and enthusiast-to-dollar ratio, DOXA is stronger. Winner: DOXA Sub 300T Professional
