Pair Review
Built from the saved specs and wearability notes for these two watches, then weighed against enthusiast priorities like fit, movement quality, practicality, finishing, value, and collector appeal.
Where it wins
Buyers who prioritize movement sophistication and certification
Where it wins
Buyers who want a more wearable size and slimmer profile
The Tudor uses the MT5601-U, an automatic caliber with a 70-hour power reserve, COSC certification, METAS certification, and 15,000-gauss magnetic resistance. That is a notably stronger technical package on paper, especially for enthusiasts who value anti-magnetic protection and stricter certification. The Longines lists an automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve and a 3.5 Hz / 25,200 vph beat rate, but the caliber name and certification details are not yet listed. In practical terms, Longines offers slightly longer reserve, while Tudor has the more fully documented and more sophisticated movement profile. Winner: Tudor Black Bay 68
The Tudor is the larger watch at 43mm by 13.6mm, and the provided wearability notes confirm it has significant wrist presence, with an estimated roughly 52mm lug-to-lug and a bold, substantial feel. Those same notes also say it remains well balanced for its size and should suit larger wrists especially well. The Longines is 42mm and 12.85mm thick with a listed 50.1mm lug-to-lug, so it should wear a bit more compactly and likely slip under cuffs more easily. While the Tudor feels more assertive and modern, the Longines has the edge for broader wrist compatibility and easier day-to-day wear. Winner: Longines Legend Diver 59
The Tudor offers a sun-brushed silver dial with applied markers, a domed sapphire crystal, 200m water resistance, and a very legible tool-watch layout with snowflake hands noted in the wearability summary. Its updated bracelet and T-fit clasp are also a strong daily-wear advantage, and the METAS/anti-magnetic package adds real-world practicality. The Longines responds with a black grained dial, painted Arabic numerals and indexes, Swiss Super-LumiNova, side-by-side AR coating on the crystal, an internal turning diving flange, a screw-down case back, and 300m water resistance. That gives it the stronger outright dive spec and very good legibility/support for aquatic use, though the internal-bezel design is a little less straightforward than an external timing bezel for some users. For pure everyday practicality and versatility, this is close, but Longines has the edge on water resistance and compact utility, while Tudor has the better bracelet and movement-related daily convenience. Winner: Longines Legend Diver 59
At $5,075, the Tudor is priced above the Longines at $4,100, so the Longines starts with a clear MSRP advantage. Tudor brings stronger brand-and-heritage signaling for many enthusiasts within the modern dive-watch space, plus a more premium movement certification package and an upgraded bracelet that improve the ownership experience. Longines offers a compelling value case through its lower price, 300m rating, 72-hour reserve, and well-sorted classic diver execution, even though some technical details are not yet listed. On collector appeal, Tudor may feel more consequential to enthusiasts focused on contemporary high-spec sports watches, while Longines is attractive for its established diver identity and comparatively accessible entry point. Winner: Longines Legend Diver 59
